Rev Brew Invades Michigan

“With five of our brewers hailing from the Great Lakes State, it’s safe to say we’re all a little excited for Revolution to invade Michigan. With its storied brewing history, we know we’ll be in good company of people who know how to appreciate their beer.” –Glenn Allen, Brewery Manager

We first introduced you to Revolution Brewing through Rosa Hibiscus Ale in our August Expert Picks. And as drinkable and delicious as it is, the world would be a bit diminished if Illinois’ largest independently-owned brewery stopped there.

Happily for the proletariat who enjoy great beer (and write about it), Rev Brew’s creativity is nearly boundless. Rev Brew was built on a commitment to “beer for the people.” And that commitment is reflected not only in the innovative brews themselves, but in the names and artwork that draw on revolutionary themes.

And if we take off our knit caps and stroke our beards and consider brews that belong to “the people,” we immediately think of the League of Heroes*:

Anti-Hero

Rev Beer’s IPA. Anti-Hero features a blend of Chinook, Centennial, Crystal, and Citra to create a crisp clean bitterness and impart massive floral and citrus aromas. The resulting brew is supremely aromatic, crisp, and drinkable.

Pairings:

Avocados/guacamole, burgers, chorizo, spicy dishes, and salmon.

Mosaic-Hero

One of Rev Brew’s rotating specialty Hero-Series IPA’s, Mosaic-Hero is quite unique with a heavy usage of rare and sought-after Mosaic hops. It’s brewed with Pale and CaraFoam malts and Naked Golden Oats to yield a rich copper color and smooth mouthfeel. Finally, it’s dry hopped with Mosaic and a small amount of Crystal to enhance the aromas of tropical fruit, citrus, and fresh pine.

Pairings:

Pretzels, salads, pizzas, and burgers.

Local-Hero

This immensely drinkable IPA is brewed with Centennial, Cascade, Chinook, and Nugget hops, all from Rev Brew’s friends at Hop Heads Farms in Hickory Corners, MI. Each year, the brewers head up to the farm to select the hops that will be used in Local-Hero. The IPA has a super-clean malt profile, crisp clean bitterness and layers of fresh citrus aromas and flavor. This fall, Local-Hero is available exclusively in Michigan.

Pairings:

Burgers, fish, salads, and pretzels.

League of Heroes Issue 2

The League of Heroes variety 12-pack of specialty IPAs contains Anti-Hero IPA and a rotating selection of three Hero-Series IPAs. Each new iteration of the pack contains one featured Hero-Series IPA that is debuting. Issue 2 features the debut of Tropic Hero, alongside Amarillo Hero, Crystal Hero, and of course, Anti-Hero.

  • Amarillo-Hero: Intense citrus and floral notes with fruit basket aromas.
  • Anti-Hero: Supremely aromatic and crisp with massive floral and citrus aromas.
  • Crystal-Hero: Crisp and refreshing with a clean bitterness and aromas of fresh flowers, citrus and a faint herbal character.
  • Tropic-Hero: Intense but clean bitterness with aromas and flavors of fresh flowers and citrus juice, with a tropical fruit character.

Pairings:

Burgers, spicy dishes, pretzels, pizzas, and fish.

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest isn’t part of the League of Heroes, but we can’t think of a smoother way to round out your fall lineup. Rev Brew’s classic German-style Oktoberfest lager is made with 100% German malts to give it a supple and flavorful base with a pleasant, toasted malt flavor. Brewed with Hallertau Gold hops that are grown on only one farm in Bavaria, Oktoberfest delivers a crisp, balanced bitterness and a spicy, earthy aroma.

Pairings:

Brats, grilled meat, pretzels, and sauerkraut.
